This is the place to bring me plot ideas/potential CR for your character(s) and Joel!
Some info about Joel's status, habits, CR and other stuff:
In the arena:
- Ellie and Joel, as long as they're both alive, will be together the vast majority of the time (OOCly, we of course will finagle this for threading purposes i.e. if you need/want one of them alone we'll figure it out). ICly, Joel is almost always within shouting distance of Ellie, and this is non-negotiable as far as he's concerned.
- Needless to say, keeping Ellie alive is always his #1 priority in the arena, for better or worse. He will act viciously and savagely to protect her, and he will not hesitate to torture or kill people if he thinks she's being threatened or is in trouble somehow.
- He's a hardcore survivalist with PTSD, so sneaking up on him, especially in the arena, will almost guarantee that he injures your character somehow. He tends to attack first and ask questions later, in general, and will often assume other characters are hostile until proven otherwise.
- He will not kill just for fun, or just because he can, and he will not usually kill in a sadistic way. When Joel hurts and kills, it is for what he perceives as essentially self-defense (and the defense of the people he cares about). Even when he tortures, it's for very specific reasons and he tends not to draw it out longer than he thinks is necessary. i.e. if Ellie is missing and he needs to find her, he might torture someone to try and get information from them.
In the Capitol:
- While he won't be quite as gung-ho about always needing to be close to her, he will probably still spend most of his time in the Capitol with Ellie. She's just the most important person in his life right now, and she's the person he's most comfortable with, to boot. Expect him to be her "date" to public functions, as well, for the foreseeable future.
- In public, Joel will be taciturn at best, if not downright grouchy if harassed. He is not used to being a public figure and he will not like it.
- At parties, and other large gatherings of people, he will be tense, suspicious and perpetually nervous. Big gatherings of people in his world are usually cause for concern, so yeah. Expect him to be a wallflower.
- He is no fan of Snow and his lackeys and is completely cognizant that the whole arena thing is really fucked up. He will not collaborate with the government any more than he considers absolutely necessary to keep himself and Ellie safe, but neither will he be particularly open to joining any rebellions against it - for similar reasons. Basically, he's on no one's side but his and Ellie's - he doesn't care about a greater good, and appeals to broader morality won't work with him. Other people, for the most part, are not his problem. Which is not to say I'm not open to getting him into rebellion shenanigans should the opportunity arise! He just won't be open to actually joining their cause in a long-term way.
- Expect him to just generally be all up in Ellie's business all the time. He's a papa bear.
Hopefully these will give you some potential jumping-off points for plot and CR purposes!
